Tuesday Night Boys Hoops Recap: Strong Leads Clay Co Over Monterey

Clay County 73, Monterey 61

Grant Strong scored a career-high 48 points on Tuesday to lead Clay County to a 12-point win over Monterey.

Jeff Spivey added nine points for the Bulldogs.

Brandon Dillon led the Wildcats with 21 points, while Cayden Jones added 16 points.

Clay County will host Eagleville on Friday, while Monterey is scheduled to play at Jackson County.

Upperman 57, DeKalb County 45

The Upperman Bees held off a solid effort from the DeKalb County Tigers to earn a 57-45 district victory on Tuesday, giving Coach Bobby McWilliams his 500th win.

Collin Gore led all scorers with 20 points for the Bees, while Alex Rush, Isaiah Allen and Jaxon Fox each scored eight points.

Elishah Ramos led the Tigers with 19 points, while Evan Jones scored 13 points.

The Bees will play at York Institute on Thursday, and the Tigers will take part in the Sonic Shootout in Sparta.

Oak Ridge 66, Stone Memorial 62

The Panthers held a three-point lead at the end of three quarters, but couldn’t muster up enough offense to hold off Oak Ridge in a 66-62 defeat.

Will Hecker continued his excellent play, as he led all scorers with 22 points. Chris Coudriet added 15 points, and Zach Boyd scored 13 points.

The Panthers’ next scheduled contest is set for Saturday against The King’s Academy.

Pickett County 74, Trousdale County 39

A balanced scoring effort from the Bobcats led to a dominant win over Trousdale County on Tuesday.

Zach Amonett scored a game-high 19 points, with Hunter Wattenbarger following close behind with 16. Will Amonett added 12 points.

The Bobcats will host Gordonsville on Friday.
