Bulldogs Win Hard Fought Game Against Pickett Co

Clay County boys basketball team won a back and fourth battle against Pickett County by a final score of 54 to 50, in the district semi final game in Livingston Saturday night.

Clay County’s Jake Ashlock left the game early in the first half in foul trouble. However, Pickett County held only a one point, 17 to 16, advantage at halftime.

Clay County’s Grant Strong scored 17 of his 25 points in crunch time, in the fourth quarter when the Bulldogs needed him the most.

Defensively the Bulldogs held Pickett County’s Zach Amonett to 10 points through the first three quarters. Amonett put up 16 in the fourth to keep the Bobcats in the contest.

Clay County advances to the district championship, on Tuesday night at 7:30 P.M. where they will take on Gordonsville, in Livingston.

Pickett County will play Monterey in the third place game at 6 P.M. Tuesday night as well.
