Wildcats Fall In Final Seconds In Semi Final Game

Monterey’s boys basketball team lost to Gordonsville 53 to 51 , Saturday night in Livingston in the District Six, Single A semi final game.

Monterey built a lead as large as 13 throughout the game. Senior point guard, Peyton West picked up his fourth foul early in the fourth quarter which sent him to the bench. Gordonsville cut the double digit lead down to five before West reentered the game.

West fouled out a few minutes later. Gordonsville went on to outscore the Wildcats 22 to seven in the final quarter of play to complete the comeback.

Tucker Phillips and West each scored 12 points for the Wildcats in a losing effort.

Monterey will play in the third place game against Pickett County Tuesday night at 6 P.M. in Livingston.
