Strong’s 27 Leads Bulldogs Past Jackson Co

The Clay County boys basketball team beat Jackson County 62 to 51, behind a game high 27 points from Grant Strong.

The Blue Devils fell behind 20 to 33 at halftime but battled back in the third quarter to trial by only two points as the fourth quarter started.

The Bulldogs would go on to out score Jackson County by a nine in the fourth quarter to give Clay County the 11 point edge in points.

Aiden Smith scored a team high 17 points for Jackson County and his teammate Ramon Luvas scored 10 points.

Strong hit 12 of his 16 shots from the free throw line. Clay County saw no other player score in double digits. Jeff Spivey scored nine points and Mason Sharp added eight.

With the loss Jackson County falls to 8-14, 2-9 on the season. The Blue Devils will host host Red Boiling Springs this Tuesday.

Clay County improves their regular season record t 21-3, and 10-2 in district play. The Bulldogs host Pickett County, Tuesday night in Celina.
