Lady Pioneers Drop First Game Of Christmas Tournament

The Warren County girls lost the first game of the Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Smoky Mountain Classic Christmas Tournament to Russell County (KY) 47 to 45 Thursday afternoon.

The young Lady Pioneers found themselves in a 16 all tie at halftime. Russell County outscored the Lady Pioneers 19 to 16 in the third quarter. Warren County won the fourth quarter 13 to 12 but their comeback fell just short.

Beth Vaughn led Warren County in scoring with 15 points. Vaughn buried five, three point shots in the game. Lia Wright scored eight points and Shelby Smart scored seven points for the Lady Pioneers.

Warren County will play again tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 P.M. against the looser of Buckhorn (KY) and Union (VA).
