Lady Eagles Advance To Winners Side Of Tournament

The Van Buren County girls basketball team won their first game of Aflac Watertown Christmas tournament against Portland 50 to 37 Thursday night in Watertown.

The Lady Eagles held onto a 33 to 32 lead at the start of the fourth quarter. Van Buren ran away with the fourth quarter outscoring Portland by 12 points.

Van Buren’s Emma Scoggins and Chloe Hillis both scored 14 points. Their 14 were game highs.

Emily Allen scored nine points and Layla Bouldin scored eight.

Van Buran County will play the winner of Watertown and Central Magnet tomorrow night at 7 P.M. at Watertown High School.
