Lady Bulldogs Fall To York Basketball
The York Institute Dragonettes won their second game in a row on Friday, defeating the Clay County Lady Bulldogs by a final score of 55-47.
After both offenses got off to a hot start in the first, the proceedings slowed to a halt in the second quarter. While York only managed two points, Clay County failed to scratch the scoring column a single time.
This led to York gaining a 23-20 halftime lead.
The third quarter was where York took the game over, as they out-scored Clay by a 14-6 tally in the stanza for a 37-26 lead heading to the fourth.
While Clay managed a little more offense in the fourth, it wouldn’t be enough and York walked away with a 55-47 win.
Katie Arms led Clay with 20 points, while Brinley Burchett added 11 of her own. Rachel Copass rounded out the trio of double-digit scorers with 1o points.
Clay County’s next game will be on Nov. 26 at Van Buren, while York will take on Stone Memorial on Dec. 2.
