Wildcats Flip Script On Gordonsville To Keep Season Alive

Monterey’s boys basketball team beat Gordonsville, Tuesday night at Livingston Academy, in the region semifinal game 74 to 59.

Eleven days ago, the Wildcats loss to the same Gordonsville team, in the same gym 52 to 50 in the semi final game of the District Six, Single A tournament.

With their season on the line Monterey dominated the second and third quarters against Gordonsville. The Wildcats outscored Gordonsville 42 to 26 through those two quarters.

Monterey owned a two shot advantage at the free throw line as the Wildcats hit 16 of their 21 tries compared to Gordonsville who hit 14 of their 21 attempts. The Wildcats hit nine shots from three against only five made shots from Gordonsville.

Jaxon Billings and Kevin Borjas tied for the game high in points with 14 each. Brojas completed a double double with 11 rebounds.

Monterey will play Clay County for the region championship on Thursday night, at Livingston Academy, at 7 P.M.
