Wednesday Night Boys Hoops Recap: Perimeter Shooting Leads Cavaliers To Victory

Cookeville 86, Grace Baptist 57

The Cookeville Cavaliers closed out the year with an 86-57 win over Grace Baptist on Wednesday.

Senior Windle Oakley continued his excellent play of late with 17 points to lead the team, while Lucas Reeves and Josh Heard each added 15 points. Jackson Madewell scored 12 points of his own, knocking down three three-pointers in the process.

The Cavaliers will be back in action on Jan. 5 when they take on York Institute in Jamestown.

Maryville 59, Stone Memorial 50

Stone Memorial trailed by just two at the end of the third quarter on Wednesday, but fell just short in a 59-50 loss to Maryville in the Maryville Christmas Tournament.

Matthew Bilbrey led the team in scoring with 16 points, while Chris Coudriet and Riley Day each scored nine points.

Stone Memorial will take on The King’s Academy on Jan. 5 for their next contest.

Center Hill 78, Livingston Academy 67

Matthew Sells had another dynamite performance for the Wildcats, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to Center Hill by a final score of 78-67.

Sells led all with 33 points, and Nathan Carwile added 12 points. Nick Choate finished just shy of double figures with nine points of his own.

The Wildcats will host Clay County on Saturday.

Goodpasture 76, Clay County 54

The Bulldogs got off to a slow start on Wednesday, falling to Goodpasture by a final score of 76-54.

Clay trailed at halftime by a 41-23 count, and though they played better in the second half, it wasn’t enough for the win.

Grant Strong led all scorers with 30 points.

The Bulldogs will head to Livingston Academy for a date on Saturday.
