Bowman, Hoover Named To Class A All-State Teams

Two Monterey Wildcats were honored on Friday, as Sophomore Running Back Mason Bowman and Junior Offensive Lineman Grant Hoover were each named to different All-State Teams.

Bowman was named to the Tennessee Football Coaches Association Class A All-State Team after a season where he was also named the Region 4-1A MVP. The sophomore running back racked up 1,330 yards and 17 touchdowns on 175 carries.

He also made an impact on defense with 28 tackles, six for loss and an interception.

Hoover was named to the State of Tennessee High School Football All-State Team for Class A, adding to his list of recognition as well. He was named the Region 4-1A Offensive Lineman of the Year, and graded out at 91 percent for the year. This included 31 pancake blocks and the junior allowed zero sacks for the season.

Hoover also accrued five sacks on defense.

The two led Monterey to an 8-3 record for the season, including a 61-22 win over Sale Creek in the first round of the State Playoffs.
