Tuesday Night Girls Hoops Recap: York Institute, Stone Memorial Each Earn Wins

York Institute 64, Cannon County 38

The Dragonettes opened their district schedule with a dominant 64-38 win over Cannon County.

Haylee Johnson tied for game-high honors in scoring with 17 points, while Sage Smith followed closely behind with 16. Gabby Beaty scored 12 points, and Laci Patton added nine points.

The second quarter proved to be the difference in the game, as the Dragonettes outscored Cannon County 20-6 in the frame to take a 34-16 lead into the halftime break.

York Institue will host Upperman on Friday.

Stone Memorial 53, Cumberland County 33

The Lady Panthers held the Lady Jets to just six second-quarter points on Tuesday, leading them to a 53-33 win.

Tessa Miller led the way with 18 points for Stone, while both Keaton Freitag and Annah Goss scored 10 points.

Chloe Reagan led Cumberland County with eight points, while Nerissa Scarbrough added seven points.

Stone Memorial will be back in action on Monday against CAK, while Cumberland County will take on Sequatchie County on Friday.

Van Buren 58, Silverdale Academy 47

The Eaglettes overcame a six-point halftime deficit en route to a 58-47 win over Silverdale Academy on Tuesday.

Emily Allen led all scorers with 22 points, while Emma Scoggins added 13 points. Chloe Hillis scored 10 points of her own.

The difference-maker proved to be the fourth quarter, as the Eaglettes outscored Silverdale 26-13 to take home the win.

Van Buren will take the court again on Thursday at Gordonsville.
