It’s no secret that normal Mondays can be mundane and boring, but today is no normal Monday.

Six Upper Cumberland teams will battle for their postseason lives in region tournament action, and here is what you need to know about the games.

First up, the home games. Cookeville baseball earned a home region game with their 5-2 win over Warren County in the District Tournament Championship, and they will host McMinn County at 7 P.M. The two teams played earlier this season on March 19, a game Cookeville won 5-3. The winner of this game takes on the winner of Warren County-Bradley Central.

The other home game tonight features the Upperman Lady Bees, as they host Bledsoe County. Upperman is coming off of a district tournament where they played rival Macon County three times and won twice to claim the tournament championship, though each game was more of a battle than the previous one. The winner of this game will play the winner of Macon County-Sequatchie County.

The previously mentioned Warren County Pioneers will be in Cleveland to take on Bradley Central after their loss to Cookeville. One interesting note to point out: the last time Warren lost to Cookeville, it kicked off a nine-game winning streak for the Pioneers. It could be a sign of things to come in McMinnville.

DeKalb County baseball will hit the road to take on Sequatchie County after falling in the District 8AA Tournament Championship to Watertown by a final score of 8-3. These two teams last played on April 24, 2019, a game that Sequatchie won 5-3. The winner of this game will face the winner of Watertown-Marion County.

Finally, both Van Buren teams will be in action on Monday night. The Eagles baseball team makes their first region tournament appearance since 1982, and they will face Gordonsville on the road. The winner of the game will take on the winner of South Pittsburg-Trousdale County.

The Eaglettes will also be on the road when they play at Trousdale. This comes after they fell in the District 5A Tournament Championship to Whitwell. The winner of this game gets to play either Whitwell or Gordonsville.
