Region Tournament Semifinals: Girls to Play Monday Night, Boys Tuesday

High school basketball postseason tournament action resumes Monday night in the semifinal round of the Region Tournament. 16 teams from the Upper Cumberland are still alive as the postseason reaches the next stage. Area girls are set to take the court on Monday night, with the boys to follow on Tuesday. Semifinal round winner will not only advance to their respective Region Championship games, but also to the Sectional round, which begin this Saturday.

Here are the Monday night girls’ semifinal round games involving Upper Cumberland teams:

Class 1A – Region 3 (at Sequatchie Co.)
Van Buren Co. (18-10) vs. Copper Basin (4-13)

Class 1A – Region 4 (at East Robertson)
Clay Co. (23-4) vs. Pickett Co. (19-8)

Class 2A – Region 3 (at Watertown)
York Institute (23-5) vs. Cannon Co. (13-13)

Class 3A – Region 4 (at Tullahoma)

Girls’ Region Championship games will be played on Wednesday, with the boys’ following on Thursday. Sectional round games for the girls will be played Saturday, March 5, while the boys’ Sectionals will be on Monday, March 7.

The girls’ State Tournament will be played March 10-12 at MTSU, with the boys’ State held the following week, March 17-19.
