With both the 5A and 6A District Tournaments wrapped up, it’s time to raise the stakes a little higher for the Region 3A Tournament.
5A Champion Van Buren will have home-court advantage in the first round on Friday, when the host Red Boiling Springs at 6 P.M. The last time these two teams met was on Nov. 21 earlier this season, a game in which the Eaglettes walked out with a 48-33 victory. The two also met last season in the Region Tournament, though it was Red Boiling Springs who earned the victory that time by a final score of 62-45.
As for the 6A Champion Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes, they get a home date on Friday with Hardy Memorial. The two teams were also scheduled to play last season in the Region Tournament, but Hardy forfeited, sending Clarkrange to the next round. This comes on the heels of Clarkrange’s 83-51 win over Clay County in the District 6A Championship on Wednesday.
Speaking of the Lady Bulldogs, they will also get a home game in the first round of the tournament, as they are scheduled to host South Pittsburg at 6 P.M on Friday. It’s been a couple years since these two last played, as the Lady Bulldogs took down South Pittsburg on Feb. 23, 2018 by a final score of 78-33.
Finally, the Pickett County Lady Bobcats will face a tough test against Whitwell on Friday. These two met just over a month ago in a game where Whitwell took down Pickett County 60-47. Pickett County won last season’s meeting by a final score of 81-63.
