Monday Night Boys Hoops Recap: Slatten Scores Program-Record 59 Points In Win Over Jets

White County 105, Cumberland County 82

Senior Grant Slatten broke White County’s career scoring and single-game scoring records in Monday’s win over Cumberland County.

With his 15th point in the first quarter, Slatten broke the single-season scoring record with 2,210 career points. He didn’t stop there however, as he scored 33 points in the first half alone. He added 26 points in the second half to finish the game with a program-record 59 points.

White County will be back in action after Christmas.

Knoxville Webb 68, Stone Memorial 63

The Panthers once again took a lead into the fourth quarter, but couldn’t muster up enough stops to take home a win as they fell short to Knoxville Webb by a final score of 68-63.

Will Hecker continued his stellar start to the year with 21 points, while Jack Eldridge added 12 points. Kaleb McCoy scored 10 points of his own as well.

Leading 43-42, the Panthers were outscored 26-20 in the final frame en route to the loss.

Cookeville 72, McMinn Central 47

A big second quarter led to a win for Cookeville to close out the Sonic Shootout, as they defeated McMinn Central 72-47.

Freshman Jackson Madewell led the effort with 20 points on the strength of four three-pointers. Senior Windle Oakley added 18 points, while Colin Ayers scored 10 points.

After taking a seven-point lead in the first quarter, the Cavaliers outscored McMinn Central 26-11 in the second frame to take full control of the game.

Cookeville will now be off until after Christmas.

Jackson County 65, Community 61

Four Blue Devils finished in double figures to lead Jackson County to a 65-61 win over Community.

Eli Burris led all scorers with 23 points, while Jordan Arroyo added 13 points.

Ramon Cuevas and Chris Pegg each added 10 points.

Jackson County will be back on the court in the new year when they take on Van Buren on Jan. 4.
