Monday Night Girls Hoops Recap: White Co Holds On Against Late Clarkrange Push

White County 70, Clarkrange 66

The White County Warriorettes jumped out to a 20-point lead in the second half, but survived a late push from the Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes to take home a 70-66 win.

Nia Powers led a big effort in the paint, as she scored 20 points to lead all scorers. Alaina Stiles and Gracie Dodgen each added 12 points, while Morgan Quick scored 11 points.

The Monday Twins fueled the ferocious by combining for 36 points. Kassie led the Lady Buffaloes with 20 points, while Kaylie scored 16. MaKenzie Pile scored 14 points, and Chloe Howard added 10 points.

Both teams will now be off until after Christmas.

Cookeville 47, Sevier County 30

The Cookeville Lady Cavs continued their excellent role of late with a 47-30 win over Sevier County.

Cassie Gallagher led all scorers with 18 points, while Jordan Gillies scored eight points. KK Graves and Liv Shipman scored six points each.

This is the Lady Cavs’ fifth consecutive win, as they’ve run their record to 8-2.

Upperman 66, Seymour 38

Reagan Hurst put together a dominant, all-around game to lead the Upperman Lady Bees over Seymour by a final score of 66-38.

Hurst led all scorers with 30 points, and also added four rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Torie Brooks scored 14 points, while Abigail Johnson added eight points and nine rebounds.

Goodpasture 38, York Institute 35

The Dragonettes struggled to put together consistent offense late in their game against Goodpasture, resulting in a 38-35 loss.

Ellie Leffew finished out a strong performance for the weekend with 16 points, as she was the only Dragonette to finish in double figures. Leading scorer Haylee Johnson was held to just six points.

The next time the Dragonettes will be in action will be in Oneida for a tournament on Dec. 28.

Community 64, Jackson County 47

The Jackson County Lady Devils played their last game before Christmas and fell just short in a 64-47 decision at the hands of Community.

The Lady Devils got balanced scoring, as Ericka Davidson and Lilly Chaffin each scored eight points. Emma Chaffin and Jacklyn Agee each added seven points.

Jackson County’s record now sits at 2-4.

The Lady Devils will be back in action in the new year when they play at Van Buren on Jan. 4.

Cumberland County 53, Elizabethton 29
