Monday Night Boys Hoops Recap: Cuevas Scores 26, Jackson Co Defeats Van Buren
Jackson County 65, Van Buren 51
The Jackson County Blue Devils got 26 points from Ramon Cuevas to take down Van Buren by a final score of 65-51 on Monday night.
The Eagles held a 17-7 lead at the end of the first, but Jackson County outscored them 37-16 over the course of the next two quarters to take full control of the game.
In addition to Cuevas’ 26, Eli Burris scored 12 points and Jordan Arroyo added 11 points.
Jason Stevens led Van Buren with 12 points.
Jackson County will take on Clay County in Celina on Tuesday, while Van Buren will play at Sale Creek.
Pickett County 57, Livingston Academy 43
Pickett County took a nine-point lead into the fourth quarter on Monday and wouldn’t relinquish it in a 57-43 win over Livingston Academy.
Trailing by only two at halftime, LA was outscored 12-5 in the third quarter and 18-13 in the fourth to fall by 14 points.
Will Amonett led all scorers with 19 points, and Zach Amonett followed closely behind with 18.
Matthew Sells led Livingston with 15 points, while Eli Melton added 11.
The Bobcats will host Red Boiling Springs on Tuesday, while Livingston will take on Upperman at home.
