Lady Blue Devils Shine In Fourth, Take Down Monterey

Jackson County’s girls basketball team extended a two-point, third quarter, lead to 11 by the end of the game for a 60 to 49 win over Monterey, Tuesday night in Gainesboro.

Neither team shot the ball shot the ball well from behind the arch or at the foul line. The Lady Blue Devils hit three shots from deep as Monterey hit only two shots.

The Lady Wildcats connected on 16 of their 29 free throw attempts and Jackson County knocked down only 23 of their 40 shots at the line.

The Lady Blue Devils Lilly Chaffin scored a game high 15 points. Abigail Poston scored 12 points and Nikki Ragland added 10 points also.

Anna Hudson scored 12 points to lead Monterey. Hudson’s teammates Lindsey Wright scored 11 while Mackenzie Raleigh added 10 points.

With the win Jackson County’s record improves to 3-17, and 2-8 in district play. The lady Blue Devils travel to Celina Friday night to take on Clay County.

The Lady Wildcats travel to Fentress County to battle with Clarkrange on Friday. The loss drops Monterey’s record to 5-19, 0-10.
