LA Girls Soccer Wins In Second Shoot Out Period

David Sadler’s Livingston Academy girls soccer team defeated the Anderson County Mavericks in the second shoot out period Tuesday night in Clinton.

The game went scoreless through regulation. Neither team scored in the first overtime or the second. The first shoot out period ended in a tie with each team scoring one goal out of five attempts.

“Our goalie Tori Hinds came up with a big stop,” Sadler said. “(Hinds) made four amazing stops in the first penalty kick period. Jayda Hammock hit the winning goal in sudden death. I coached football for 17 years and have never been apart of anything like this.”

Livingston will face cumberland County in the region championship Thursday night in Crossville at 6 P.M.

They Lady Jets and Lady Cats played last week in Baxter in their district championship game. Cumberland County won that match up 3-0.

“We are just going to have to play Cumberland County with a little more intensity,” Sadler said. “We play Cumberland County a little flat last week and they capitalized on that. We have to come in there and fight from the beginning and not allow them to jump up on us.”

The winner of Thursdays matchup will host the looser of East Hamilton and Sequatchie County on Saturday the 26th.

The loser of Thursdays Livingston and Cumberland game will travel to to winner of East Hamilton and Sequatchie County on Saturday as well.
