Friday Night Lights: DeKalb Co Falls In Close Battle To Nolensville

Nolensville 24, DeKalb Co 17

The DeKalb County Tigers were stopped one yard short of tying Nolensville late in regulation and they fell by a final score of 24-17.

Senior Desmond Nokes got the scoring starting by taking a direct hand-off from three yards out into the endzone. Later in the first half, Isaac Knowles picked off a pass on defense and only a few plays later, Knowles caught a deep pass from Axel Aldino to take a 14-7 lead. A field goal before the half gave DeKalb a 17-14 lead, but the Tigers failed to score in the second half.

DeKalb County finishes the season with a 7-5 record.

Loudon 41, Upperman 16 

The Upperman Bees got off to a slow start on offense and it proved to be their downfall in a 41-16 loss at the hands of Loudon.

The Redskins opened the game by scoring 41 unanswered points, while the defense held the Bees without a touchdown until the fourth quarter.

The Bees finish their season with an 8-4 record, and they won all five of their region games.

South Pittsburg 43, Monterey 14

The Monterey Wildcats battled the top-ranked Pirates and only trailed 21-14 in the second half, but South Pittsburg pulled away in the fourth by a final score of 43-14.

Sophomore running back Mason Bowman ran for 100 yards in the effort.

Monterey finishes the season with a 8-3 record.

Gordonsville 21, Clay County 14

In an improved effort from their 20-0 loss at the hands of Gordonsville earlier in the season, the Clay County Bulldogs battled in a game that was tied at 14 late, but they ultimately fell by a final score of 21-14.

The Bulldogs close the 2020 campaign with a 7-5 record.
