Cumberland County Struggles To Find Offense Against Scott
Cumberland County senior Ronald Martin opened up the 2019 season with a 92-yard kick-off return for a touchdown. The Scott Highlanders rattled off seven unanswered touchdowns, defeating the Jets 42-6.
Cumberland County only managed 39 yards of total offense in Huntsville on Friday. Senior quarterback Trevor Parsons rushed eight times for 23 yards. Senior running back Brandon Dalton rushed 7 times for 8 yards.
Parsons completed two of eight passes for three yards. Treven McGhee caught a three-yard pass from Parsons.
The Highlanders racked up 425 yards on 49 plays and 22 first downs. Quarterback Noah Buttram completed 12 of 14 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 119 yards on eight carries. Brady Strunk contributed 12 rushes for 75 yards and two touchdowns.
Cumberland County host White County next week in Crossville.
