Early Deficit To Much To Over Come For Eagles

Van Buren County’s boys basketball team fell behind by 11 in the first quarter and could not make it up against Grundy County in a 80 to 77 loss Thursday night against Grundy County.

The Eagles trailed by 11 in the first quarter and were not able to make that up the rest of the night.

Four Eagles scored in double figures on the night. Jacob Guy scored a game high 26 points for Van Buren County.

Austin Hodges added 15 of his own and Brad Burke scored 13. John Allen scored 11 to round out the double digit scorers for the Eagles.

Grundy County gained a decisive advantage at the free throw line as they hit 21 of 29 free throws and Van Buren only hit six of their 11 attempts.

The loss drops Van Buren County to 4-12, 2-0 on the season. The Eagles play again Saturday evening on the road agains Monterey.
