Bulldogs Use Big Second Half To Down Clinton Co.

After a scoreless first half, the Clay County (2-0) Bulldogs used their ground-and-pound style in the second half to down Clinton County (KY) (0-1) by a final score of 25-0.

Clay County used 12 points in the third quarter and 13 in the fourth to pull away from Clinton on the scoreboard.

While both teams struggled in the opening stanzas to find any offense, the Bulldogs found success on the ground. Quarterback Jake Ashlock led the way with 21 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns, and Carson Sharp added 58 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. As a team, Clay County ran the ball 37 times for 195 yards, good enough for 5.3 yards per carry.

Ashlock only completed one of his six passing attempts, but it was a huge completion as it went to Wyett Burks for a 15-yard touchdown.

Clay County will be back in action on Sept.6 at 7 P.M. when they take on Jo Byrns High School in Cedar Hill, Tennessee.
