Bobcats Take Down District MVP and Red Boiling Springs

Red Boiling Springs Dalton Marsh won the District 6, 1A most valuable player award, but it was Pickett County’s Zach Amonett who stole the show in the Bobcats 62 to 61 victory on Thursday night.

Amonett scored a game high 39 points for Pickett County in their comeback win. 15 of Amonett’s 39 point came in the fourth quarter when the Bobcats needed him the most.

Red Boiling Springs jumped out to a 20 to 10 first quarter lead. Pickett County also got outscored in the second quarter by one point as they trailed at halftime 38 to 27.

Defensively, the Bobcats locked down Red Boiling Springs in the third quarter as they only allowed 10 points, while they chipped into the 11 point deficit with a 13 point third quarter.

Amonett went to work in the fourth and final stanza with the season on the line for Pickett County. Amonett hit 10 of his 12 free throw attempts and he also buried a three as Pickett County scored 22 fourth quarter points against only 13 for Red Boiling Springs.

John Parker Regan added 13 point for Pickett County while Luke Smith scored eight points. Remington White finished out the scoring for the Bobcats with two points.

Pickett County not only advances to take on top seeded Clay County on Saturday night but they also qualified for the region tournament. The loss ends Red Boiling Springs season.
