Warriors Football Wins Thriller Against Walker Valley

The White County Warriors (3-2) got back on the winning track defeating Walker Valley, in a high scoring affair, 32-29 in Sparta, Friday night.

The Warriors had another big night on the ground behind Will Griggs and Jayden Richmond.

Griggs tied things up in the first quarter with a two-yard touchdown run. White County trailed 14-10 at halftime.

Walker Valley drew first blood in the third quarter with a 22-yard touchdown pass, extending their lead to 21-10.

Quarterback Sedryk Leftwich drew White County closer with a nine yard touchdown run halfway through the third quarter. Leftwich connected with Kade Clark on the point after try closing the gap to three, 21-18.

Griggs scored his second rushing touchdown of the night from one-yard out with 3:30 to play in the third. Kicker Will Cheek’s PAT gave the Warriors a four point lead, 25-21.

Richmond extended White County’s lead to 11, 32-21, with a four-yard touchdown run halfway through the fourth quarter.

Griggs led White County in rushing yards with 115 yards on 20 carries and two scores. Richmond followed closely with 18 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown and Leftwich had 9 carries for 57 yards and one trip to pay dirt.

White County travels to Jamestown next week to take on York Institute.
