Tuesday Night Boys Hoops Recap: Upperman Downs Livingston Academy

Upperman 72, Livingston Academy 58

The Bees took home a district win on Tuesday, as they defeated the Livingston Academy Wildcats by a final score of 72-58.

Alex Rush led all scorers with 30 points and eight rebounds, while Collin Gore added 21 points. Jaxon Fox scored 11 points, and Jace McWilliams scored 10.

Matthew Sells led Livingston with 22 points.

The Bees will host Watertown on Friday, while LA will head to Lafayette to take on Macon County.

Cookeville 73, York Institute 58

The Cavaliers got two big performances from two of their freshman in Tuesday’s 73-58 win over York Institute.

Colin Ayers scored a game-high 23 points, while Josh Heard followed close behind with 22.

The difference-maker proved to be the third quarter, when Cookeville outscored York 25-12 to a 54-36 lead into the final frame.

Nic Smith led the Dragons with 18 points, and Riley Cooper added 17 points.

Cookeville’s next scheduled game is Jan. 15 against White County, while York will travel to Smith County on Friday.

Pickett County 75, Red Boiling Springs 16

The Bobcats jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter with 29 points, and never let up in a 75-16 win over Red Boiling Springs.

Zach Amonett led all scorers with 17 points, and Ben Zachary added 13 points off the bench.

Pickett County will take on Clay County on Friday in a big district matchup.

Clay County 58, Jackson County 49

The Clay County Bulldogs trailed by two points at halftime, but used a 15-6 advantage in the fourth quarter to earn nine-point win over Jackson County.

Grant Strong put together a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Jeff Spivey and Keaton Arms each finished in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Ramon Cuevas led the Blue Devils with 16 points, and Eli Burris scored 12 points.

Clay County will host Pickett on Friday, while Jackson County will take on Red Boiling Springs.

Monterey 62, Clarkrange 46

Monterey got off to a fast start in Monday’s win over Clarkrange, as they led 35-18 at halftime.

Even being outscored 19-11 in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats took home an 11-point district victory.

Cayden Jones led Monterey with 16 points, while Silas Randolph scored 15 points. Tucker Phillips finished with 12 points.

Haden Smith and Case Cordell led the Buffaloes with 10 points apiece.

Monterey will host Van Buren on Thursday, while Clarkrange will take on Trousdale County on Friday.

Cumberland County 81, Bledsoe County 72
