Thursday Night Boys Hoops Recap: Clutch Defense Leads Monterey Over Warren County

Monterey 58, Warren County 55

The Monterey Wildcats finished their regular season with a three-point win over Class AAA foe Warren County on Thursday.

Leading by three late, the Pioneers got a final look at the rim at the buzzer, but a Kaden Rutledge three was just short and the Wildcats left the building with a victory.

Cayden Jones paced Monterey with 18 points, while Silas Randolph scored 14 points. Tucker Phillips added 11 points of his own.

Dee Spates led all scorers 22 points, while Aidan Cummings scored 12 points for Warren County.

Upperman 78, Macon County 39

The Bees closed out the regular season with a dominant win over Macon County to clinch the top seed for the district tournament.

Collin Gore continued his excellent scoring stretch of late with a game-high 28 points. Jace McWilliams scored 18 points, and Alex Rush scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebouns. A.J. Nash scored 10 points.

With the top seed in hand, the Bees will also get an automatic berth into the region tournament.

Jackson County 56, Cascade 39

A big night from Ramon Cuevas led the Blue Devils over Cascade to close the regular season.

Cuevas scored a game-high 25 points, while Jordon Arroyo added 11.

The Blue Devils will be the fourth seed in the district tournament, earning a bye in the process.

Livingston Academy 60, Cannon County 55

The Wildcats took down Cannon County on Thursday for their 10th district win of the season by a final score of 60-55.

The defense made key stops when they were needed, as the Wildcats added a basket onto their lead at the end of the third quarter for a five-point win.

Matthew Sells led the way for LA with 19 points.

The Wildcats will be the third overall seed in the district tournament.
