Lady Bees Move On To Title Game With Win Over York

The Upperman Lady Bees defeated the York Institute Dragonettes on Friday by a final score of 50-35.

The score was deceptively one-sided, but both teams stayed within a possession of each other for a majority of the game. After one half of play, the Lady Bees held a slim two-point lead over York.

It stayed that way in the third quarter, as the teams traded blows back-and-forth to exchange the lead. When the buzzer sounded on the third, it was Upperman who led by three heading into the final frame.

This is where the Lady Bees utilized their speed to put the game away, as they out-scored York 21-9 to win by 15 and clinch their spot in the District Tournament Championship game.

Aiyana Levy led all with 16 points, while Reagan Hurst added 14. Torie Brooks scored 10 points of her own.

Haylee Johnson paced York with 12 points, and Gabby Beaty tallied 11 of her own.

The Lady Bees will take on Macon County in the Championship, while York will face DeKalb in the consolation game.
