Friday Night Girls Hoops Recap: Second-Half Surge Leads White Co Over Science Hill

White County 80, Science Hill 42

The Warriorettes used a massive second-half surge to take down Science Hill by a final score of 80-42.

Leading 32-29 at half, White County outscored Science Hill 48-13 in the second half to cruise to the victory.

Gracie Dodgen led the way with 22 points, while Nia Powers added 11 points of her own. Addison Frazier put together a masterful effort with 11 points, eight assists and no turnovers.

The Warriorettes will be back in action tomorrow as they play Volunteer.

Upperman 54, York Institute 38

The Dragonettes battled for three quarters on Friday, but it was not enough as the Lady Bees pulled away by a final score of 54-38.

Reagan Hurst led the way with 19 points, while Torie Brooks scored 11 points. Gabby Beaty led York with 14 points.

Upperman will take on Oakland at home on Saturday, while York will play Cumberland County on Monday.

Van Buren 75, Marion County 51

Van Buren earned their second win after returning from quarantine with a dominant 75-51 win over Marion County.

Emily Allen led the way with 21 points, while Emma Scoggins scored 19 points. Layla Bouldin added 15.

Van Buren’s next contest will be on Monday against Hardy Memorial.

Cumberland County 64, Sequatchie County 30

The Lady Jets won their third game of the season with their 34-point win over Sequatchie County.

Freshman Jalynn Baldwin put together a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Abby Houston scored 19 points and knocked down five threes.

The Lady Jets will battle York Institute on Monday.

Watertown 54, DeKalb County 47

The Lady Tiger got off to a slow start on offense and it proved to be their downfall in a 54-47 loss to Watertown.

Kadee Ferrell scored 14 points, and Ella Van Vranken added nine points.

DeKalb County will play Livingston Academy next Friday.
