Cookeville Volleyball Falls To Houston, Will Face Ravenwood

The Cookeville Lady Cavs suffered a set-back in their opening match of the State Tournament on Tuesday, falling to Houston by a final count of 3-1.

The match started out in favor of the Lady Cavs, who took a big lead in the opening set at 24-14. While only a single point away, Houston made a run to cut the lead down to 24-22.

It didn’t phase Cookeville however, as they took the opening set by a final score of 25-22.

The match turned here however, as Houston took the following two sets by counts of 25-21 and 25-16, respectively.

Down late in the third set 20-15, Cookeville rallied to tie the match at 25-all and force the match further. Both teams traded strikes and leads, but it was Houston who took the match by winning the final set 29-27.

Cookeville will be back in action at 6:30 P.M. against Ravenwood.
