Cavalier Basketball Finds A Way To Win Close Game In Jamestown

After being tied at halftime against York, the Cookeville Cavaliers took control of the game in the third quarter to eventually beat the Dragons 67-56.

The Cavaliers out scored York by three at the free throw line. Cookeville connected on 13-17 attempts from the line, while York hit 10-16 tries.

York did hit three more shots from beyond the three point line than Cookeville did. The Dragons were able to find the basket on seven shots will Cookeville only hit four.

The Dragons Roger Meadows scored a game high 27 points. Meadows hit 4-5 free throws and three shots from deep.

Nicolas Smith added 12 points for York.

Stockton Owen scored 17 points for the Cavaliers. Eight of those points came in the third quarter.

Cookeville’s leading scorer Bailey Gilliam had only four points as the fourth quarter began. Gilliam hit a three in the fourth and he hit all six of his free throws to close out the game, to finish with 13.

Cookeville will host Cleveland, Saturday night at 6 P.M.

The Dragons hit the road this Friday night to Smithville as they take on DeKlab County.
