Friday Night Girls Hoops Recap: York Downs White Co

York Institute 48, White County 43

The York Institute Dragonettes won a physical battle over the White County Warriorettes by a final score of 48-43

Ellie Leffew put together a strong game in the post, as she scored a team-high 15 points. Haylee Johnson scored 14 points, and Gabby Beaty added 11 points.

Gracie Dodgen led the Warriorettes with 17 points, while Addison Frazier scored 10 points.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, as the Dragonettes play Gallatin and White County battles Kingston.

Jackson County 54, Monterey 36

The Jackson County Lady Devils earned their second win of the season with a 54-36 decision over Monterey on Friday.

Lilly Chaffin scored a game-high 17 points, while Riley Thomas added 14 points.

The turning point proved to be the second half, where the Lady Devils outscored Monterey 29-16 to take control.

Mackenzie Raleigh led Monterey with 15 points.

Jackson County will be back in action on Monday when they host Community, while Monterey will play Ezell-Harding on Dec. 28.

Clay County 58, Eagleville 27

The Lady Bulldogs held Eagleville to 21 percent shooting from the floor in a 59-27 win on Friday.

Katie Arms poured in 14 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs, while Rachel Copass scored 11 points.

Clay County’s defense was on full display in the first and third quarters, as they held Eagleville to three points apiece in those frames.

The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to be back in action on Dec. 28 when they take on Johnson City.

Cookeville 45, Knoxville Catholic 40

The Lady Cavs put together another strong defensive effort to down Knoxville Catholic by a final score of 45-40.

Cassie Gallagher led all scorers with 19 points, while Liv Shipman added eight points.

Cookeville will take on Cocke County on Monday.
