Bobcats Prepare For Sunbright Misdirection

The Pickett County Bobcats are coming off of a 16-8 win over the Oakdale Eagles on Friday, though the win came at a cost.

The Bobcats sustained two injuries to their backfield and both of their running backs will miss week two.

“I lost two starters in the first quarter, one of them I lost for the year,” Head Coach Ray Reagan said. “The other I’ll get back next week, but that really hurt us. We had to put some freshmen out there in places where they don’t have a lot of experiences.”

To add more issues to the injuries, the Bobcats struggled with little mistakes and couldn’t finish consistently in the redzone, according to Reagan.

“I believe if they clean up their mistakes, we’ll be just fine,” Reagan said. “When you put it in the redzone five or six times and only come up with two touchdowns, you know you’ve got mistakes you’ve got to clean up.”

Repitition, Reagan says, will be the key to fixing a lot of these mistakes. With Sunbright coming into town on Friday for week two, Reagan said they’ve been focusing in the size they have up front and the misdirection they run on offense to gameplan for the match-up.

“They’re big up front, and their quarterback is an athlete,” Reagan said. “They run a lot of misdirection, so we’ve run a dummy offense against my defense to prepare them for that … they know what to expect, it’s all on them to play disciplined and not get too caught up in the misdirection. If they do, they’ll be on one side of the field and the quarterback will be on the other.”

The Bobcats will face off with the Tigers on Friday at 7:30 P.M.
