Woman Stabs Housemate in the Face After Asking for Cigarette, Deputies Say

A 32-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing another woman in the face at the Lauderdale Lakes group home where they both lived, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO).

Deputies responded to the residence around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday following reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from two stab wounds to her face. She was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators said Cerriann McDonald attacked the victim after asking her for a cigarette. When the victim told her to “wait one minute,” McDonald allegedly became enraged.

McDonald admitted to stabbing the woman in the face and eye with a silver butter knife, claiming she intended to kill her because of past mistreatment, according to the arrest report. She told deputies she threw the knife into a neighbor’s backyard after the attack.

The two women had reportedly lived together at the group home for about six months.

Deputies said the altercation began when McDonald tried to go outside to smoke. She told investigators that she spat on the victim, who then spat back, before McDonald stabbed her.

McDonald was arrested and charged with attempted murder and battery on an emergency medical care provider.

As of Thursday afternoon, she remained held at the North Broward Bureau without bond.
