Woman Sentenced To Prison After Caught With Pants Down In The Villages

A woman was sentenced to ten days in jail after being discovered with her pants down during a potty break in The Villages.

Karen Annette Crook, 65, was sentenced Tuesday in Sumter County Court after pleading no contest to a DUI offense. In addition to jail time, she will lose her driver’s license for five years, be on probation for one year, and be required to conduct 80 hours of community service.

A sheriff’s officer from Sumter County observed a white Jeep Cherokee parked at the entrance to the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter and halfway along Buena Vista Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. on July 23, according to an arrest record. The vehicle was running and had its lights turned on.

The deputy noticed “a white female standing up, pulling up, and buttoning her shorts,” according to the report. She was the only person in the vehicle. Crook was identified using her driver’s license. The deputy saw that she had to “lean on her vehicle to maintain balance” and would “sway and stagger when not leaning on the vehicle,” according to the report.

The Kalamazoo, Michigan, resident volunteered to participate in field sobriety tests, but she “almost fell multiple times.” She submitted breath samples that were registered. Blood alcohol concentration ranged between 142 and 146.

A computer check indicated that Crook had been convicted of driving under the influence in Collier County in 2007 and Broward County in 2022.
