Woman Escapes Kidnapping with Help from Publix Employee in Port St. Lucie, Suspect Arrested

A terrifying kidnapping ended inside a Publix in Port St. Lucie when a woman, abducted from Hollywood, managed to seek help and was rescued. The incident unfolded yesterday when the woman approached a Publix employee, prompting an immediate call to authorities. According to NBC Miami, she identified her abductor as a family friend who had sexually assaulted her before driving her to an unknown location.

The victim said the ordeal began when she was forcibly taken from an undisclosed spot in Hollywood. Traveling in a white van, the suspect stopped at the Publix at 10400 SW Village Drive, WSVN reported. Seeing her chance, the woman approached an employee, who quickly hid her in an office and called 911, Port St. Lucie Police confirmed.

Officers arrived around 9:15 a.m., arrested the suspect, and towed the white van from the supermarket’s parking lot. The Publix location is about 90 miles from Hollywood, where the abduction allegedly began. Police say the investigation remains active and plan to release more updates on Monday, according to NBC Miami and WSVN.
