Nearly two decades after a deadly Hialeah collision, a woman accused of driving under the influence has been apprehended and is now facing charges.
Leydis Menendez Abdala was arrested and presented in court Sunday morning, according to officials.
Police said they’ve been searching for her for 19 years.
The crash occurred in August 2006. According to investigators, Menendez Abdala was driving under the influence when she caused the collision that killed Gloria Hall.
Hall’s brother, a City of Miami police officer, told the court that Menendez Abdala was recently apprehended in Mexico.
She is scheduled to appear in court again on Monday.
