A 44-year-old woman faces multiple charges after a drunk-driving crash involving an 8-year-old boy in her vehicle.
Arleen Daday Garcia was charged with felony child abuse and endangerment, as well as misdemeanor counts of DUI, driving with a BAC of .08% or higher, and hit-and-run with property damage.
The crash occurred Monday around 6:15 p.m. on Garden Grove Boulevard near the Garden Grove (22) Freeway. Police confirmed that Garcia is related to the child in the car. Her blood-alcohol content at the time of the collision was .213, nearly three times the legal limit.
Garcia pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Wednesday in Santa Ana and is scheduled to return to court on October 16 at the West Justice Center in Westminster.
The criminal complaint notes that Garcia previously pleaded guilty to burglary and receiving stolen property in September 2013.
