Winter Haven Fugitive Wanted For Fleeing Police And Collision Detained In Auburndale

A 29-year-old Winter Haven woman who was wanted for breaking her probation was apprehended Saturday evening in Auburndale. Taylor Ann Huggins had an ongoing Polk County warrant for her arrest after violating nine probation terms since April.

Deputies Santiago and Piche of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a tip regarding Huggins’ likely whereabouts and discovered her at a home on Poinsettia Drive in Auburndale at 6:45 p.m. She was brought into jail without incident and transferred to the Polk County Jail.

Huggins’ first probation allegation arose from an incident on June 14, 2024, in which she escaped an attempted traffic check by an Auburndale police officer.

The pursuit halted when she collided with another vehicle and a railroad crossing arm on Derby Road. Huggins then attempted to flee the crash site on foot but was captured immediately. She was also charged with driving without a valid license and leaving the scene of an accident.

Huggins was later convicted guilty on all three charges.

On April 17, 2025, she earned credit for time served on the misdemeanor charges and was sentenced to two years’ probation for escaping to escape.

On August 8, she broke her probation nine times, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant.
