A Waldorf man was sentenced to nearly two years in federal prison after D.C. police discovered 35 illegal “Glock switches” in his SUV during a traffic stop in Anacostia.
Edward Devon Gadson, 27, was sentenced to 21 months in prison on November 19, 2025, in U.S. District Court after previously pleading guilty to unauthorized transfer and possession of a machine gun, as well as aiding and abetting, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro. U.S. District Judge Amit P. Mehta also ordered three years of supervised release.
The case comes from a Metropolitan Police Department stop on October 2, 2024, in the 2300 block of Green Street SE. Around 5 p.m., authorities stopped a Dodge Durango with heavily tinted windows and discovered Gadson behind the wheel, according to court documents.
Police observed a clear plastic bag on the rear passenger floorboard that seemed to contain handgun components. When investigators retrieved and investigated the bag, they discovered dozens of devices known as “switches” that can convert a semiautomatic handgun into a fully automatic weapon.
Prosecutors revealed that investigators eventually found 35 such devices, all of which appeared to be 3D-printed. The goods were labeled with photos related to an internet meme called “Not ATF Guy.”
The Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ Washington Field Division conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorneys John D. Crabb and Thomas Strong prosecuted the case.
