A Virginia man was sentenced to federal prison after being found with more than two pounds of cocaine at a Kansas City bus station.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, Kareem M. Strong, 34, of Ashburn, Virginia, was sentenced to prison for narcotics trafficking on Thursday, September 4.
According to court documents, Strong will serve a 10-year sentence without the possibility of parole for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Investigators say Strong was found carrying a black rucksack in a Kansas City bus station in December 2023. Inside, they discovered a heat-sealed white powder brick with the word “Rolex” imprinted on it.
According to law enforcement officials, Strong and another individual were traveling from Nevada to Virginia when they were detained by officers from the drug task force.
According to court papers, the brick was sent to the Kansas City (State of Missouri) Police Crime Laboratory for testing. The laboratory certified it as more than 2 pounds of cocaine in salt form.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department also probed the case, which Assistant US Attorney Brad Kavanaugh prosecuted.
