Victim wounded in shooting during teen fight at Victorville shopping mall

One person, possibly a juvenile, was shot and injured after gunfire broke out during a fight involving teens at a Victorville shopping mall on Sunday evening, officials said.

Authorities received several reports of shots fired shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 near the Cinemark Victorville 16 movie theater at the Mall of Victor Valley, located at Bear Valley Road and the 15 Freeway.

“Deputies responded to the mall for multiple juveniles fighting,” San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Gloria Orejel said. “The fight escalated and shots were fired. One person, possibly a juvenile, was struck and transported to the hospital.”

Deputies evacuated the mall as the investigation continued late Sunday night.

The scene remained “very active,” Orejel said.

Officials released no additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which investigators are treating as an attempted murder.

Images from the scene appeared to show a bullet hole in the front glass door of the theater.

Numerous yellow evidence marker cards were visible scattered across the sidewalk and street in front of the theater.
