Two men have been sentenced to life in prison for their roles in the 2022 fatal shooting of 30-year-old Errol Scorzac III, Kern County court officials confirmed.
Anthony Guiterrez received 15 years to life plus an additional three years, while Andrew Espinoza was sentenced to 15 years to life with an extra three years and eight months added to his term.
Court records show that Guiterrez was convicted of murder and street gang participation on September 24, 2025, after pleading guilty. A charge of aggravation involving extreme violence was dismissed. Espinoza pleaded no contest to murder and gang participation on the same day.
On January 26, 2022, Bakersfield police responded to a welfare check in the 900 block of M Street, finding Scorzac dead from a gunshot wound. The Kern County coroner confirmed the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
