Two 18-year-olds Detained In Connection With Shootings; Guns And Drugs Confiscated

On August 8, police detained two 18-year-old suspects tied to separate shootings earlier this year after a foot chase involving local law enforcement.

According to the Tucson Police Department (TPD), members of the Eastside Community Response Team (CRT) discovered a Dodge Durango that they believe is linked to the incidents. Two guys were inside the vehicle, one of whom is currently on probation for a past firearms offense.

As the suspects entered a convenience store, officers kept an eye on them. When a patrol vehicle came in the parking lot, the males took a side exit.

The Organized Crime Division Enforcement Unit (ODE) and CRT officers apprehended both individuals after a brief foot pursuit. During the arrest, officers discovered two weapons, one in a suspect’s waistline and one thrown during the chase. Officers also confiscated a number of Xanax pills.

According to police, both people are not allowed to own firearms. They are now facing a number of crimes in connection with the prior shootings, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and firing a handgun within city limits.

The inquiry into the past instances continues. The identities of the suspects have yet to be released by authorities.
