Trump Administration Arrests 'Worst of the Worst' Criminal Illegal Immigrants in Nationwide ICE Sweep

Immigration enforcement agents arrested several high-profile criminal illegal immigrants across the U.S. on Tuesday, as the Trump administration intensifies its efforts to remove individuals with serious criminal histories from the country.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, at least five men were taken into custody during coordinated sweeps. All had prior convictions ranging from weapons charges to child exploitation and drug trafficking.

“Every one of these men left a victim behind – scarred, addicted, terrified and worse,” said Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“The Biden administration turned a blind eye. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, we’re taking these lowlifes off the streets. DHS will continue to swiftly arrest, detain, and remove the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens—Americans deserve to feel safe in their own country.”

Those arrested include:

  • Cristian Brayan Aleman-Leiva (El Salvador) – Convicted in Virginia for possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and petit larceny.

  • Jose Javier Romero-Hernandez (Mexico) – Convicted in Oklahoma of first-degree burglary, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, assault with a dangerous weapon, threats of violence, and property destruction.

  • Juan Ignacio Amaya-Hernandez (Mexico) – Convicted in Texas of indecency with a child.

  • Elin Edicson Ochoa-Hernandez (Honduras) – Convicted in Texas for alien smuggling.

  • Manuel De Jesus Lopez-Marroquin (Guatemala) – Convicted in New Jersey for distributing heroin, possessing a controlled substance, and hindering apprehension.

The arrests come as the Trump administration ramps up deportation operations, especially in sanctuary cities like Los Angeles, where local leaders have resisted federal immigration efforts.

“In L.A., we have been going after the worst of the worst,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said during a June appearance on Hannity.
“They’re murderers. They’re people who’ve been perpetuating assault, trafficking human beings and drugs, and devastating these communities for years.”

The sweep is part of the administration’s broader strategy to crack down on criminal illegal immigrants, a campaign that has sparked both support and controversy nationwide.
