Three Suspects Arrested After California City Standoff; Crisis Response Unit Called In

Three people were taken into custody Saturday after a two-hour standoff in California City, according to police.

The California City Police Department said officers first responded around 2 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 8000 block of Walpole Avenue. The investigation led officers to a home in the 7800 block of Xavier Avenue, where the suspects barricaded themselves inside.

Because a firearm was believed to be involved, the Kern Crisis Response Unit was called in to assist.

After about two hours, officers said the situation was resolved without injuries and the suspects surrendered. Two were booked into jail, while the third was cited and released on misdemeanor charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
