A Texas man has been charged with murder after a fatal road rage confrontation ended in a shooting at Frisco High School’s parking lot on Thursday evening.
According to the Frisco Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call around 8:30 p.m. at the high school, which sits across from the police station. When they arrived, they found 34-year-old Robert Taylor on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Taylor was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The suspect, 45-year-old Jason Bartik of Celina, was taken into custody at the scene and is now being held at the Collin County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
An arrest affidavit obtained by NBC affiliate KXAS revealed that Bartik himself called 911, reporting his involvement in a road rage incident.
Bartik told investigators that the altercation began when Taylor was tailgating him on a nearby highway. Bartik admitted to “brake-checking” Taylor before both drivers exited the highway and entered the high school parking lot.
According to Bartik’s account, Taylor got out of his vehicle, yelled at him, and punched him through the driver’s side window. Bartik then allegedly grabbed his firearm and shot Taylor at least twice, striking him before calling police.
After a full investigation, officers arrested Bartik and charged him with murder. Police emphasized that no students were involved in the incident.
