A 19-year-old man was critically injured Tuesday night after a driver struck him in a marked crosswalk and fled the scene, Los Angeles police said.
The hit-and-run happened just before 8 p.m. near Van Nuys Boulevard and Tupper Street. According to the LAPD, the victim was crossing Van Nuys Boulevard when a white Toyota sedan traveling southbound hit him.
Police said the driver did not stop, identify themselves, or provide aid, as required by law.
Paramedics transported the teen to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Authorities have not released his name pending notification of his family.
LAPD officials said a reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to the suspect’s identification, arrest, and conviction, through the city’s Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund.
