Taft Man Dies in New Year’s Day Crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Taft man was killed in a crash early on New Year’s Day.

The California Highway Patrol said officers received a report of the crash around 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 at the intersection of South Tenth Street and B Street.

CHP Buttonwillow officers responded to the scene and determined that a 39-year-old man from Taft was driving eastbound on B Street when his vehicle struck a tree.

The man died as a result of the crash.

Authorities have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
