San Diego police have launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a man’s body under suspicious circumstances Monday afternoon in the city’s East Village neighborhood.
According to a press release from the San Diego Police Department (SDPD), officers were called to the 800 block of 13th Street around 2:30 p.m. after reports of an unresponsive man found on a sidewalk with severe injuries.
Emergency responders from San Diego Fire-Rescue attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said the victim’s injuries may have resulted from a fall from an apartment window several stories above, though the exact circumstances remain unclear.
The man’s identity has not yet been released pending family notification, and police have not provided further details about what led to the fall.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the SDPD Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
